Our Commitment to the Community
Supporting a Just and Fair Society
At Negocio, Steve Lancken, Lynette Edwards, and Eulalie Moore are deeply committed to building a just, fair, and sustainable society. Through our time and financial contributions, we support causes that promote peace with justice and work to combat prejudice and inequality.
Current Projects and Community Contributions
Voluntas
Voluntas is a free, confidential, and independent conflict resolution service dedicated to supporting volunteer organisations and volunteers. The program is run by a group of like-minded professionals, including accredited mediators, along with members of not-for-profit organisations and volunteer sector leaders. Voluntas helps volunteers and volunteer managers engage in constructive conversations to manage conflicts early and effectively. The service is provided by skilled facilitators and mediators at no cost to volunteers or their organisations.
Stephen Lancken and Lynette Edwards are both accredited mediators and board members of Voluntas.
Sydney Peace Foundation
Steve Lancken is a Councillor of the Sydney Peace Foundation. The Sydney Peace Foundation promotes peace, justice and nonviolence by recognising the world’s most important leaders for peace with the Sydney Peace Prize, Australia’s only international prize for peace.
Community First Development
Steve Lancken is a Community First Development volunteer. He has offered his time, skills and experience working with remote and disadvantaged indigenous communities to address conflict, prejudice, and disadvantage.
Cathy Freeman Foundation
For decades the children of Palm Island have been some of the most disadvantaged in our country. For almost 10 years Negocio has supported the Cathy Freeman Foundation to address disadvantage on Palm Island and similar communities through education and capacity building for Aboriginal children and their families.
Mediators Beyond Borders
MBBI works to bring mediation and peace skills to organisations and communities around the globe so that they can prevent, resolve, and heal from conflict.
Lifeline
Lynette Edwards volunteers as a Lifeline crisis supporter.
Good Life Chorus
Working on the committee and singing with the choir is another way in which Lynette Edwards contributes to her community bringing joy to those with early-to-mid-stage dementia, and their carers.
Salvo’s Legal Humanitarion
In August 2005, Courtyard Legal was established at the Auburn Salvation Army to provide free legal advice and assistance to those unable to afford it. Recognising the lack of access to well-resourced solicitors in Greater Western Sydney, Courtyard Legal evolved into Salvos Legal Humanitarian in December 2010. This new firm continues to offer essential legal services to underserved communities. Negocio proudly supports Salvos Legal Humanitarian by providing Pro Bono ADR services and regularly presenting at seminars to further access to justice.
NADRAC
From 2008 to 2013 Steve Lancken was honoured to contribute as a Council member of the National Alternative Dispute Resolution Council (NADRAC) which offered policy advice to the Federal Attorney General.
Steve Lancken and Negocio have contributed on committees and advises and maintains membership of the following organisation in the ADR and business field.
